Other ProjectsThis page contains informations about some projects I've done as a hobby or during my education. I enjoy a lot of different aspects in game developement so in most of these projects I have done graphics and game design by myself as well.Disclaimer: The Wii and Gameboy Advance projects are created using fully legal reverse enginered devkits and APIs. I have no experience of the official Nintendo Devkit for either Wii or GBA. Helium BoyCopyright Bertil Hörberg 2006, 2009
Helium Boy is a game I made for my final project at the university of Skövde. It's a simple 3d platform game inspired by the Nintendo classic Ballon Kid. You fly using helium balloons and collect stars while watching out for birds and flying ninjas, and try to reach the end of the level. It was created in about 11 weeks using the Ogre3D rendering engine and was nominated in the category Best PC-game in the Swedish Game Awards 2006. In early 2009 I started playing around with Wii homebrew development and started working on my own basic 3d engine in my spare time. I decided to port Helium Boy as a way to test out my engine. After about two weeks I had a nearly complete version up and running on the Wii using my own engine. Project GMC is a straight forward 2.5D platformer where you jump and shoot and battle evil robots. The development never got really far, but illustrates some new progress on my 3d engine, which is now also working on PC using OpenGL. It uses the same engine as the Wii version of Helium Boy, but there has been many improvements and new features, such as: real time shadows, optimised skinning, new particle effect system, depth blur, environment mapping and a bunch of other render effects. Bength Swinger Of Longarm is a game I made together with a couple of friends back in 2004 for the GBADEV2004MBit competition. The game is a 2D platform game heavily inspired, somewhat ironicly, by Bionic Commando. I was responsible for all the code and a lot of the pixel art. ScreenshotsDownloadbsol.zip 252 KiB |
